From a distance, it’s hard to get a sense of scale on the damage. This photo series brought it home to me - in photo 28, that’s a fire engine, that’s a HUGE amount of rubble, and our second biggest city has basically been levelled. The human impact has been massive. We’re a small country - almost everyone knows someone affected, and those of us lucky enough to not have lost anyone realise that it is just luck.
